EPL Picks: Manchester United New Favorites For Title

The EPL this weekend was full of drama, shocks, and controversy, with Manchester United overtaking Chelsea as favorites in the league winner market.

Manchester United have replaced Chelsea as EPL favorites after Carlo Ancelotti's men were beaten by Aston Villa. United are now [3.0] for a fourth consecutive title with Chelsea out to [3.05].

Fifteen minutes into the first half of their lunchtime match at Villa Park, Didier Drogba's shot bounced into the Villa net after a rare error from Brad Friedel and Chelsea went 0-1 ahead. However, lax defending and a fortuitous flick-on from Frank Lampard allowed Richard Dunne to find space in the Chelsea box at a corner and head the home side level.

Shortly after the break, Villa again managed to score from a corner when James Collins headed in his first goal for the club. It proved decisive as Villa hung on for a deserved victory, which one quick-fingered bettor managed to put £1.00 on at odds of [100.0].

United took advantage of Chelsea's defeat with a relatively straightforward 2-1 win over Bolton at Old Trafford but there was more good news for Sir Alex's men as Liverpool lost 0-1 against Sunderland.

Darren Bent's first half goal, which was deflected off a balloon in the Liverpool penalty area, means that Liverpool have now lost four of their nine Premier League fixtures this season. Sunderland were matched at [5.7] for the win which sees Rafael Benitez's men out to [15.5] in the EPL winner market.

It was a happy return to Fratton Park for Harry Redknapp as his side were backed at [2.24] on their way to a 1-2 win. Spurs were coasting at half-time but a goal from Kevin Prince-Boateng got the home side back in it and when Jermain Defoe was sent off for violent conduct it looked as though the comeback might be on. However, Spurs repelled Pompey and condemned the Premier League's bottom club to another home defeat. Portsmouth are now [1.72] to be relegated.

West Ham United look increasingly likely to follow them. Gianfranco Zola's side gave a decent account of themselves at the Britannia Stadium but two goals from James Beattie secured a 2-1 win which leaves Stoke ninth in the table.

Andrei Arshavin scored a stylish goal as Arsenal traded no higher than [1.22] for their 3-1 win over Birmingham at the Emirates.

There was late drama at Goodison Park as Everton left it late to earn a 1-1 draw, which was matched at [7.0], against Wolves.
