NHL Picks

Nashville Predators @ Dallas Stars

The Betting Advantage looks at tonight's game between the Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars in order to uncover the NHL betting value.

The Nashville Predators are in Dallas tonight to take on the Stars. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. The first meeting resulted in a 3-2 shootout win for the Nashville Predators. In that contest, Nashville jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Jason Arnott and Steve Sullivan.

Dallas battled back by scoring with ten seconds left in the second period, and knotting the game up on the power play in the third period. Both Dallas goals were scored by James Neal. Nashville eventually won the game when Predators' goaltender Dan Ellis stopped Loui Eriksson in the shootout.

Looking ahead to tonight's game Dallas is of course the favorite at home. You can back Nashville for +138 [2.38] on the money line. Looking at the regular time match odds, Nashville can be backed for +225 [3.25]. However, I think the value is with the tie. The tie can be backed for +330 [4.3] and I like this value.

Both teams play a tight checking style of game. Nashville has scored just seven goals through four games on the season, while giving up just 11. On the other side the tie has come in for three of four Dallas games so far this season.

Both teams are missing some forwards for this contest. The Stars will be without centers Steve Ott and Mike Madano. Nashville will be missing Jordan Tootoo and J.P. Dumont.

I'm expecting a low scoring game, very similar to the teams' last meeting. Betting under the total may also be worth a look. The total is set at 5.5 goals and the under can be backed for -114 [1.87].
