Monday Night Football Preview

The Betting Advantage looks at the Monday night football game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins.

The Philadelphia Eagles will no doubt be out to redeem themselves tonight after a 13-9 loss to the Oakland Raiders last week. The Eagles were a two touchdown favorite to win that game. It was the Eagles' worst game of the season.

The Raiders were able to get pressure on Donovan McNabb as they had six sacks in the game. The Eagles may need to balance their attack a little more to avoid the pressure as teams just blitz all day knowing McNabb will most likely be throwing the ball. In last week's game McNabb attempted 46 passes, compared to 14 rush attempts by the Eagles.

The Washington Redskins are a team in turmoil. On offense they are the fourth lowest scoring team in the NFL, averaging just 13.2 points per game. Injuries to the offensive line have really hurt the Skins. Both their best pass blocker, tackle Chris Samuels, and best run blocker, guard Randy Thomas, are out with injuries. Combine this with some questionable play calling from Jim Zorn and you have a futile offense.

Zorn will be stripped of his play calling duties tonight as Sherm Lewis will step in. The 67-year-old has been out of football for five years. I'm expecting some very basic plays from the Skins tonight. I'm not sure how effective they will be against a strong Eagles defense, especially with the blitz schemes that the Eagles come up with.

You can back the Eagles for [1.31] on Betfair tonight. I think this is value but the bet I like is Philadelphia covering 13.5 points. You can back the Eagles here for [3.05]. There is also some value in backing the Eagles to cover 7.5 points at [2.0].
