NFL Betting: The Latest News

Graham Lewis takes a look at the latest news doing the rounds in and around the NFL.

There are two big name wide receivers who could be coming onto the transfer market this week, Brandon Marshall and Plaxico Burress.

Brandon Marshall

Word is that wide receiver Brandon Marshall could be on his way from the Denver Broncos. Pro Bowler Marshall is reported to be unhappy with his contract and looking for a move.

Brandon Marshall is surely a valuable player to the Broncos, especially now that Cutler has moved on. There are a number of teams that would be interested in having him and the word is that Baltimore Ravens or Chicago Bears would be the most likely destinations.

There must be some doubts about how easy it would be to control Marshall, but there is little doubt that on the field he can make a big difference. I would be surprised if the Broncos do let him go and expect to see a deal struck at the last minute that will keep him happy.

Plaxico Burress

On to another wide receiver with off-field issues: Plaxico Burress. Burress had faced weapons charges in New York after an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. If he does face a trial, it will now not be until 2010, so this means that we could well see him on the football field this coming season.

Burress' agent says that there are four teams which are interested in taking him. Tampa Bay Buccaneers have expressed an interest and could make a great home for Plaxico. It is not known who the other teams might be just yet, but he will not be returning to the New York Giants.
