MLB Betting: Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox

The Betting Advantage looks at tonight's clash between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox in order to uncover the MLB betting value.

The Boston Red Sox may have lost five games in a row but last night they clinched the American League wild card spot. The Red Sox dropped their game 8-7 to the Toronto Blue Jays but later on in the night the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim beat the Texas Rangers to give the Red Sox their third straight postseason berth.

Usually the day after a team clinches a playoff spot you will get good value betting against them. Tonight is a good time to test this theory out. The Red Sox will likely rest some of their starters tonight.

The Red Sox are sending a struggling Tim Wakefield to the hill. The knuckleballer has not won in his past three starts. Last time out against Kansas City, Wakefield gave up four earned runs over five innings.

The Blue Jays will send Roy Halladay to the mound to make his last start of the season. The Colorado native gives 100% every time out, no matter the situation. The right-hander threw a complete game shutout against the Seattle Mariners last time out. Tonight he will be going for win number 17 on this season.

I am expecting Halladay to dominate the Red Sox hitters. Many are waiting to see who the Red Sox will be keeping out of the line up tonight before laying any bets. I think if you can get the Blue Jays for [1.70] or higher, you are looking good. Halladay against a team that has lost five straight is usually a good recipe.
