Baseball Preview: Minnesota Twins v Detroit Tigers

Eric G previews tonight's clash between the Twins and the Tigers in an attempt to uncover the MLB betting value in the Betfair markets.

Following Tuesday's doubleheader, the standings entering Wednesday night remain the same; the Twins are two games back off the division-leading Detroit Tigers. The Twins won game one in extra innings while the Tigers came back and won the night game, leaving everything the same. That means that this game remains as critical to the divisional race as can be!

The Twins are going with Carl Pavano in this game, while the Tigers counter with Eddie Bonine. This bodes very well for the Twins as Carl Pavano has been spectacular against the Tigers this year. He's 4-0 with a remarkable 1.69 ERA and a sensational 0.96 WHIP. He's been lights out every outing this year, and despite the great 47-27 home record for the Tigers, two of those losses have come at the expense of Mr. Pavano.

Eddie Bonine gets the call for the Tigers, as he'll be making his 4th start of the season in this critical game. The bad news is that his ERA is 4.60, the good news is he's coming off a tough luck outing last week against the White Sox where he only gave up 2 runs. His confidence level should be high knowing he's able to get the job done. Still, the numbers don't lie and the Twins definitely have the huge edge going into this game.

Minnesota is favored in this game at [1.83] and, as mentioned above, the evidence is there to back that up. However, following their win on Tuesday night, I'm looking for Detroit to keep the momentum going and erase the demons that Carl Pavano has given them this year. Take a chance on the Tigers at [2.02] and watch them widen their lead in the AL Central to three games.
