Baseball Betting: Colorado Rockies @ Philadelphia Phillies

The Betting Advantage looks at game one in the National League Divisional Series between the Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies in order to find the MLB postseason betting value.

The Major League Baseball playoffs get underway today with the first match-up taking place in Philadelphia. The Colorado Rockies will take their 92-70 record and face off with the defending World Series Champions.

Ubaldo Jimenez will take the ball for the Rockies. Jimenez has been good this season, going 15-12 with a 3.47 ERA. The stat that jumps out at you is that he has only given up 13 homeruns in 33 games; a good number considering his home ballpark is Coors Field.

Cliff Lee will toe the slab for the Phillies today. Lee is the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner. Lee was 14-13, with a 3.22 ERA this season. His first 22 starts were with the Cleveland Indians before he was traded to Philadelphia. Since joining the Phillies his numbers improved, going 7-4.

Many are predicting this will be a high scoring series because of the bats in each team's line up and the fact that both Citizens Bank Ballpark and Coors Field are both hitter friendly. I think that the hitting will not be as important as pitching in this series. The Phillies have a strong edge in pitching and that is why I think they will win this series.

Today's game will be interesting. I think the Phillies will get off to a quick start in the series and take it. Lee has an ERA of 2.85 at home this season.

Presently on Betfair you can back the Phillies for [1.75]. This is great value for the defending Champions at home, with a 2008 Cy Young Award winner on the hill.
