Angels Look To Salvage One Game In Series

The Betting Advantage takes a look towards the clash between the Angels and the White Sox.

After losses of 17-3 Monday and 4-2 last night, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will look to win the last game of their series against the Chicago White Sox.

The White Sox exploded for 17 runs Monday. Scott Podsednik and Alexei Ramirez each had 4 hits, while Jim Thome and Jermaine Dye each had 4 RBI's in that game. Last night Jayson Nix had two homeruns and Bartolo Colon had a quality start to lead the White Sox.

From a statistical standpoint every action is independent from previous actions. However, in this case I don't see the Angels getting swept at home by the White Sox. The Angels play well at home as they entered this series with a 12-8 record at home. Chicago entered this series with a 7-14 road record.

Normally when betting on baseball I like going with the team that is winning but when looking at the starting pitching in this game I have different thoughts. The White Sox send Gavin Floyd to the bump tonight. Floyd is a big right hander who had a solid season last year but hasn't quite found it yet this year. He is coming off a great start at home against Pittsburgh allowing just two hits over eight innings. Floyd's efforts on the road have been futile. His ERA is 9.33 away from U.S. Cellular Field so far this year.

Meanwhile the Angels send Jered Weaver to the hill. In his five starts at home Weaver has been great, as he hasn't taken a loss in any of those starts. Weaver's home ERA is 1.23. In his past two home starts he has allowed just two runs over 16 innings facing two strong AL East teams in Boston and Toronto.

I expect that the Angels will rough up Floyd and get solid pitching from Weaver. The Angels will win the last game of this series.
